Geraint specialises in corporate finance work, including mergers and acquisitions, equity investments, corporate restructurings and joint ventures. He also advises on banking and security matters as well as compliance issues for companies and their directors. His clients range from institutional funders to large corporates through to public sector organisations and owner-managed businesses. He is a member of the firm’s public sector team and advises many leading public sector bodies in Wales on constitutional and finance matters.
Transactions on which Geraint has recently advised include:
- The acquisition by Celsa UK of steel fabricators ROM and Express Reinforcements
- The £42m financing of RockTron’s pulverised fuel ash processing plant at Fiddler’s Ferry Power Station
- Joint ventures by Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council with St Modwen in relation to the redevelopment of over 1,100 acres of land at the former BP Oil Llandarcy and BP Chemicals Baglan Bay sites
- Many of Finance Wales’ larger and more complex equity investments, including the take-private buyout of Forest Traffic Signals
Brought up in North Wales and educated at Cardiff University, the University of Rennes in France and the College of Law in Chester, Geraint joined Geldards as a trainee solicitor in 1998 and became a partner in 2009. He is fluent in Welsh, Spanish and French.
