Andrew is head of tax at Geldards and, in addition to being a lawyer; Andrew is also a chartered tax adviser.

Andrew specialises in giving commercial advice in relation to all aspects of corporate tax including vat and stamp duty land tax on commercial property transactions. Andrew advises on the structure of corporate transactions to maximise the tax efficiency of the transaction and minimise the tax payable on the transaction.

Andrew also specialises in share options and other equity incentives for staff and senior executives in companies, either using share schemes approved by HM Revenue & Customs or utilising unapproved arrangements including employee benefit trusts.

Andrew advises charity clients on tax matters including trading issues and is a regular speaker at the WCVA Charity Law Conference.

Recent transactions on which Andrew has worked include:

- Tax advice in relation to the exercise of share options and the subsequent multi-million pound sale of Prevx (an anti–malware solutions software company) to Webroot Software, Inc, a company based in the USA.

- Tax advice in relation to the management buyout of Synseal.

- Tax support on the £127.5 million recommended takeover of Castle Support Services plc, a company listed on AIM, by Sulzer (UK) Holdings Limited (a subsidiary of Sulzer Ltd (a company listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange)).

- Advice to Dynamite Baits Limited on the grant of share options pursuant to an Enterprise Management Incentive scheme and the subsequent sale to Rapala VMC Group.

- Tax advice to Frost Pharmacy Limited on its acquisition of Lyndhurst Pharmacies Limited.

- Advice to an industrial components re-seller on the implementation and adoption of a EMI scheme.

- SDLT advice in relation to the development of a multi-million pound new office building for E.on in Nottingham city centre.

Andrew has advised a wide range of clients ranging from large quoted companies to small company start-ups and their founders. Andrew is a past Chairman and a current committee member of the South Wales Branch of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.

Andrew joined Geldards in 2003 after training and qualifying with Burges Salmon LLP in Bristol. Andrew became a partner at Geldards in 2005.
