Geldards advise on the Acquisition of the Francis Group

Geldards has advised the Francis Group, a privately owned Leicestershire motor dealership, on its sale to Marshall Motor Group.

The Francis Group, which has a turnover of £35m, was established in 1993 and has two Honda motor dealerships in Mountsorrel and Narborough, a SEAT motor dealership in Leicester, a Suzuki motor dealership in Narborough and a Hyundai after sales service in Mountsorrel.

Geldards’ Partner, Andrew Borkowski, said “This is a great deal for all concerned. It strengthens Marshall’s Midlands’ coverage and rewards the hard work Robin Francis and the other shareholders have put into the business over the past seventeen years.

“This is the latest in a long line of deals the Geldards’ Motor Retail team has been involved with as the sector has ignited over the last 12 months. This level of activity in the market can only be good for the economy as a whole.”

Robin Francis, who started the family business said: “I am delighted that, along with the other shareholders, we have left the business flourishing with a dedicated and loyal workforce who I know will continue to make the dealerships a success for Marshalls.”

Other advisors on the deal included Grant Thornton, RSM Tenon and The Royal Bank of Scotland.
